Foodie Fun!

by hungryyogini on February 18, 2009

I just got back from lunch with Ryan and we had a really great time! We went to a place called Book Lover’s Cafe. It is a book store and cafe that serves vegan and vegetarian sandwiches and such.

Their menu was very interesting and we had a hard time choosing. After a few minutes of perusing the menu and asking the server what he would recommend, I decided on the Feta Veggie Wrap with Black Bean and Rice Soup.

The wrap was delicious, with creamy feta, cucumbers, tomatoes, baby romaine, red onion and a sweet balsamic dressing. The soup was quite delicious too with strong flavors of garlic and cilantro. It was warm and comforting, perfect for the windy day we are having here in Gainesville.

Ryan and I talked about school, running and yoga, blogging, and of course healthy food! We both feel strongly about natural ingredients and she gave me a wealth of information on soy. Check out her latest post on MSG…an ingredient found in many soy products! YIKES!!

After lunch we walked on over to Mother Earth Market. We walked slowly through the aisles, just admiring the fresh produce and healthy, different products. She convinced me into trying a few new things (Hazelnut Milk and a neat brand of organic shredded coconut) that I am really excited to use over the next few days!!  I also treated myself to a jar of cashew butter and some tropical trail mix. I am predicting some tropical themed oats in the VERY near future!

We both got Guava Goddess Kombucha’s as well. I hope she likes hers! It is definitely an acquired taste!

It was a nice little afternoon and the perfect pick me up after my late night and tired morning. We will both be attending the blogger lunch in Tampa after the Gasparilla race, which Ryan will be running in! You go girl!

I am feeling refreshed and energized now! I’ll probably tackle some more homework this afternoon and call it a night super early. I can’t wait ‘til bed time =)

See ya for dinner!

I’m glad you took pictures of your purchases because I SO did that the second I walked into my house! Check my blog later for a review of the Guava Goddess Kombucha :)
