New Day

by hungryyogini on February 18, 2009

Last night was a long night. And I mean long. When we have socials, they don’t start until 11:30pm (GASP! I have usually been sleeping for 45 minutes by this point) and usually take place at a bar down town. As the V.P., me and the other officers have to get there early to make sure none of our girls get there before us. We all hopped in the car around 10:30 and headed to the social. I was feeling good at this point, just trying to go with the flow and take each minute as it came rather than get worked up. It can get stressful since it’s our job to make sure everyone is being safe and hasn’t been drinking too much.

I was doing great until around 1:00am when I finally felt OVERLY exhausted. I tried to keep a smile on my face but kept having a feeling of frustration and impatience. It got the best of me around 1:30 or so as we tried to shuffle everyone out to get on their way home. It took WAY too long to get everyone out and we ended up not getting home until about 2:30. I had totally shut down by this point. No more smiles on this face! Just ready to get in my warm bed!

We finally got back to the house and in bed by about 3:00am. Five and a half hours later, I was up! I’m not feeling to tired right now but know I will this afternoon. Pardon my venting, but I was totally out of my element! Is it bad that my idea of a good time involves a movie or good book, PJ’s and light’s out at 11:00? Call me an old fart if you must!

I was ravenous this morning when I woke up and went straight for some comforting oats (no yoga this morning…body needs a rest!). Just kept it simple with 1/2 a banana, cinnamon, and pure maple syrup. That’s natural PB and the obligatory 4 dark chocolate chips on top!

I like to take ridiculous amounts of pictures of the melting chocolate chips. You can almost see my reflection in the melty goodness!

I’m going to have lunch with Ryan of Chase Day Light today which is really exciting! We are going to a little vegetarian/vegan cafe and then walking over to Mother Earth Market, where I will probably fork out the dough for another Kombucha. I just can’t help myself!

I’m just going to start today as a fresh day and not let last night’s frustration and lack of sleep bring me down…Setting the day’s intention to have a new, fresh start. Thanks for letting me vent =)

As a true morning person and “early to bed” person, I give you MAJOR credit for pulling out until the end of the social – hope you can have a normal night tonight!!

Hang in there, girl!! I’m always thinking of ya!!

Ah sorority socials… I had a blast at most of mine, but there were certainly those nights when I just wanted to go back to the house and go to bed! And now? I rarely stay up past 11:30 :)

I’m an early bird too! I usually go to bed at 11!

I would also much rather stick around my house and relax at night…the days are packed enough, adding more at night just takes it out of me! Call me an old fart too! Haha

See ya soon!

Haha, we have similar ideas of a good time!
I had a late night this weekend and was asleep by 9 the next night. Seriously.
Love the oats. Chocolate for brekkie can’t be beat.

If you’re an old fart, I’m an old fart! I couldn’t even stay up last night to watch the new episode of Real Housewives of New York!! Have fun at lunch :)

Hi There!
I just started reading your blog a few days ago and I absolutely love it! I’ve become a regular “bloggie foodie” and yours is by far one of my favorites.
Just wanted to pop in and say that I can definitely relate to how “out of your element” you felt last night. I’ve struggled with this all throughout college (I’m a senior now), and I think my best advice to you is to just stay true to yourself! I would constantly judge myself because I didn’t want to go out and “get wasted” like most girls my age. It just was not my idea of a good time! There are many other girls/guys out there who share similar outlooks, I swear! Too bad I don’t live in Florida–I feel like we’d really get along! Anyway, not to sound all preachy, just wanted you to know that I understand what you’re talking about!
Take care and I look forward to reading more of your blog!

I am such a night owl its ridiculous. I wish I could fall asleep early and wake up feeling refreshed early! My body fights that schedule though.

Your oats look delicious! Gotta have chocolate chips on them! Have fun at lunch!

Boy do I remember those late nights doing sorority stuff. I was always made fun of in the house for going to bed “early”–which is what I consider “late” nowadays! You’re not an old fart, just sensible! Hang in there ;)
