Time Just Keeps Slippin’ On By

by hungryyogini on March 10, 2009

I can’t believe Tuesday is over already! My break is going by a little too fast for my taste. I am trying to savor every moment but the moments just keep slipping away!

This afternoon I ventured out on a walk with Raleigh. I stopped by a friend’s house and we chatted for a bit while our dogs played together. She has two cute little pups and they all got along well. Raleigh came home and passed out, always a sign of a good play date.

I decided to go to yoga class even though I practiced for a bit this morning. Just tryin’ to soak up all the group yoga goodness before I head back to school. Before I left I had a quick snack:

That’s about 1/2 cup of Fage 2% with a few blackberries, a sprinkle of granola, and some dark chocolate covered goji berries. A friend of our family is a MAJOR health nut and told us about goji berries a while ago. We used to buy them and sprinkle them on cereal. They are really healthy and full of antioxidants. I don’t know much about them but I will take her word…she is a tri-athlete and a healthy food enthusiast. My mom and I couldn’t resist this chocolate covered version (go figure). They were delicious on top of the yogurt mix.

Yoga tonight was wonderful. It was taught by one of my favorite teachers, Ashley, who did her training with Shiva Rea (click here for one of my favorite yoga dvd’s by her). It was beautiful! I felt very graceful in the flows and strong in the challenging sequences (coming from standing splits right into handstand).  It was really great and I am glad I went. That puts me at 2 hours of asana today. I think tomorrow will be a day-o-rest!

When I got home all I wanted was veggies and protein. I was craving them like no other! I made myself a little veggie platter with some roasted turkey breast from Fresh Market that my mom bought the other day. I drizzled a little light honey dijon dressing over the top for flava.

IMG_4789I ended with a sweet bite of Kashi Cinnamon Harvest, unsweetened vanilla hempmilk (my latest obsession) and some agave nectar.

I had quite the relaxing and lazy day today and I enjoyed it all. Can’t believe tomorrow is already Wednesday! AH!

Alrighty, I am off to read, sip some Sweet Lemon Tulsi Tea, and read! Good night!

O.k, after you and Polly, I was inspired to try yoga! I am brand new to it but b/c I run a lot know that it will help me a ton. However the prices at studios are crazy! I found a website online that you actually watch and do the videos along with the instructors, rather than just doing it to audio. I tried my first video tonight and LOVED it. I would love to hear if you know about any other sites online like this???

That’s so wonderful! Are you on yogatoday.com? Their site is perfect for starting. You could also try a few yoga downloads. I think Carrots N’ Cake has a code for 50% off this month. They are inexpensive, especially for half price. It is a great place to start. You could always treat yourself to an in studio class sometime. It is great to go to them, especially as a beginner so you can make sure you are doing the poses safely. I’m so excited for you. Feel free to email me if you have any questions!
