Raleigh and I went for a nice long walk this morning, about 45 minutes or so. I love going for walks first thing in the day. Makes you feel like you got a lot done =)
Mid morning I munched on some yummy snacks:
Apple and cheese, one of my favorite combos.
Dr.Kracker.
Halfway through I decided it needed some hummus.
And last but definitely not least.
It’s ALIVE!!!
I met up with Jenna for lunch around 12:30 at Grassroots, a local organic vegan and raw restaurant. It is a family run place and all of the food is made by the one chef. Apparently she is quite the athlete yet follows a 100% raw diet. Crazy!
We went there last week and it was so good that we had to go back again. In fact it was SO good, that I ordered the same thing as last time! Jenna and I both ordered The Sabrina’s Sandwich…
This is seriously the best sandwich I have ever eaten. It’s their raw onion “bread” with raw hummus, raw cashew “sheeze”, sprouts, romaine and avocado. The bread is like a soft cracker, almost dough-like, and the filling is creamy and tangy yet fresh. I seriously need to get a dehydrator so I can make some of this “bread.”
Obviously we enjoyed our meal…
We tried to get dessert, the Vegan Key Lime Cheesecake, (and the waiter replied “the same one as last time?” Yes, they know us there now!) but unfortunately it was frozen still. I guess the chef makes it in advance and freezes it for the next day. Tear. Wasn’t meant to be!
Jenna also gave me a pure bar to try!
Thanks Jenna! I can’t wait to try it. It will be perfect to take along to training this weekend.
Speaking of which….I think I am going to go rest up and do a little more reading. Tonight’s session will run until about 9:00pm and then we start again bright and early at 7:00am tomorrow. It was supposed to be an Anusara weekend but the instructor who was supposed to come is sick. Stephanie Keach, the one who runs the program, is stepping in in her place. I am excited to see what is in store! I’m sure it is going to be wonderful.
What are you doing this weekend?

Hooray for lunch with Jenna and for the…
PURE BAR!!!!!!!!!!!!!!
Enjoy your weekend activities!!
One chef makes all the food?! That’s a sign of a good restaurant!! Hope you like the Pure bar – have fun tonight :)
K,
Yes! It is a tiny little place though so she isn’t goin’ to crazy back there!
Ohh, grassroots sounds like my kind of place, for sure! Too bad I don’t live in your area :/
This weekend I don’t really have that much planned. Going to run some errands in town tomorrow (among others check out a new organic shop I just discovered and shop around for some new yoga/workout clothes and a yoga mat!) I also just emailed to try to book a drop-in time for Bikram Yoga on Sunday morning (fingers-crossed there’s a spot open!) I went for the first time ever on Wednesday morning and I’m still super sore from it! During the 1,5 hour class all I could think was “Ugh, let it be over, what have I got myself into!” but since Wednesday I haven’t been able to STOP thinking that I should give it another go! So, I will!
Hope you have a fantastic weekend!
Dr. Kracker makes me want a Dr. Pepper.
