Yum-Du-Ree

by hungryyogini on April 2, 2009

My mom and I went to lunch today with our friend Debbie at Tun-Du-Ree, a little Indian cafe type place here in town. It’s kind of like Indian fast food…you walk up to the counter, order what you want, wait 5 minutes and voila! Indian food! I loved it last time I went and couldn’t wait to try it again today. This time I ordered the Channa Masala. It comes with a little plate of rice, naan, veggies and raita, a little yogurt dish to cool down the spiciness.

The naan was warm and doughy and perfectly delicious. I just LOVE Indian food, especially channa masala. We also had a coupon and got a free mango lassi, a blend of mango and yogurt topped with whipped cream, that was divine! Perfect way to sweeten things up after such a spicy meal.

They had a bunch of signs all over the restaurant that said Yum-Du-Ree, and they are right! I love this little place.

After lunch I went up to Greenwise to pick up a few things and got a loaf of their whole grain bread. I’m about 99% sure that it was baked by Jenna =)

The guy behind the counter gave me a big ole hunk of this bread to try and it was excellent. So soft, but hearty at the same time. It’s going to make some awesome sandwiches this weekend.

I’m in full weekend mode at the moment. I know I know…I’m a day early, but what the heck! Why not!?

My friend was just telling me the other day about Mango Lassi’s and how good they are, it does look amazing, as do all your eats!

I have also never had Indian food!! I need to find one of my friends to guide me through the experience and tell me what to do while we’re there.

Indian’s certainly a favorite of mine. I adore the spices they use to make such fabulous dishes. And many Indians are completely vegetarian!!!

Yummmm – freshly baked bread. Love the authentic stuff. Brands are so overrated. Hehe.
