Morning! It’s quite the rainy day here. I started the morning off with a big bowl of YUM. It was unique. It was different. It was…oh, who am I kidding.
Peanut Butter and Banana Oat bran
- .5 cup oat bran 1.5 cups water
- cinnamon
- 1 small bananner
- 2 tsp maple syrup
- 2 tbsp peanut butter
I just can’t get enough. I always have intentions of trying something new when I go to bed and it just never fails…all I want is peanut butter and banana oats in the morning!! If it ain’t broke, don’t fix it! I actually couldn’t finish this bowl. I think 1/3 cup is the perfect portion for me, as this was just to much oat bran, although I did manage to fish out the pieces of banana and savor every bite of peanutty goodness. Priorities people!
Not much on the agenda today. It’s rather rainy here now, perfectly conducive to lazy behavior. I’m currently plopped in front of the tube watching The Today Show ![]()
Have a great Friday!

I have a question for you. I used to practice Yoga 4 days a week. However, I haven’t really done it in over 1 year. I want to get back into it but can’t afford the classes. Do you have any recommendations for DVDs or podcasts, etc… I have one but it’s just too easy. I am still quite flexible and strong so I do need a bit of a challenge. Thanks!
Katrina,
I love the Shiva Rea DVD’s (Yoga Shakti and Fluid Power are among my favorites) since I am a huge fan of flow yoga. Also, yogadownload.com has a bunch of really great classes that are only $5 or so and you can use them again and again. Also, I like to go to my local library and check out books and DVD’s. It’s a great place to peak your interest since it is free! Hope that helps! And I’m glad you want to get back into yoga =)
Boo to rain :-( Hell yes for a classic breakfast!! :-)
Enjoy your Friday!!
I ate all the nut butter out of my oat bran this morning, too. For some reason, I wasn’t as hungry as usual but I didn’t want to leave that little blob behind :)
GREAT breakfast, there’s really nothing like PB in hot cereal, is there? :-))
I TOTALLY agree with that mentality! Keep enjoyin’ those oats girl! :-)
totally agree the thoughts of changing the night before and go right into the same thing again the next morning!~
enjoy the lazy friday~
Boooo the rain!
ahh love the today show
I wasn’t going to put any nut butter on my oatmeal today, but then when I was done making the bowl I was sad that there was no meltiness. Sooo peanut butter it was :)
I wish I was in front of the tube :)
Agreed.
This is a random thought, but your oat bowls always look amazing, and I think it is because you have great bowls! I mean, what’s in them is amazing too, but what I mean is that I’m always drawn in by how full and fluffy they look, and even when I make myself a bowl with similar ingredients, it looks sub-par and I’m pretty sure now that it’s because I just don’t have the ideal bowls, both in depth or width. To make my cereal bowls brimming with oat goodness would take like a cup of oats! And since I’m with you on the 1/3 cup serving, I know I could never finish it.
Ok random thought concluded. :) Happy weekend!
Diana,
haha I love your comment! Yes, our bowls are great! They are by Denby. The one I put my oats in is a rice now which is really tiny and makes portions seem bigger. I LOVE these little bowls. I also use a lot of water and cook them slowly so they become nice and voluminous. Thanks for your random thought. It was super cute!
Watching The Today Show is probably the single-most thing I miss the most about being awake in the morning with no where to be. I can’t wait to watch it next week when I don’t have to go to my internship :)
The rain should clear up for you soon…it was yucky here last night but Gainesville is BEAUTIFUL right now!
I totally thought it said 5 cups of oatbran!!! AHH that would be crazyness!
I just tried oat bran for the first time today! It was a bit dry…looking at your measurements I think I am not using enough liquid. Yours looks so creamy!
Lara,
Yeah I usually use a lot of water about a 3 to 1 ration of water to oats. I cook it really slowly and sometimes add more water at the end if it needs.
