I LOVE this post! I definitely try to follow the principle of "pay" now vs. "pay" later. My blog has a lot to do with budgeting and how preventative health and fitness such as eating organic and whole foods actually SAVE you money in the long run! I'd much rather eat $30 of fresh , local, organic veggies and fruits than pay $30 for my doctor's co-pay! Nutrient dense food is always going to be more expensive, but it's SO worth it! Thanks for your insights- they really hit home for me! :-D

I really love these types of discussions! I was also listening to a book that talks about how your food was made and how that effects your body.. was it made with love then that energy is transfered, etc

When you said you were having nutrition talks at yoga last night, I got so excited for your recap post about it! What great perspectives and I am totally going to use the BMW analogy because, if anything, we should be treating out bodies even BETTER than we would a BMW!

Sounds like you're learning so so much!

Thanks for this post. I have been eating "not so good" the past two days, and its good that I read this. It gave me motivation to put premium back in my tank! :)

The things you discussed about nutrition are exactly the things I have been reading a lot about the past couple of years. Especially in one of the first books I ever read on the subject - Skinny Bitch by Kim Barnouin and Rory Freedman. The title might put you off but it's a good book and it really changed my whole outlook on food and what I put in my body. The language in the book can be a little harsh and "dirty" but I thought it was kind of funny. Anyway, the book promotes (among other things) eating organic produce.

I love the BMW metaphor! It's SO true!! I know I always feel much better when I've had ample amounts of veggies, water, and natural foods instead of packaged and processed!

Lovely message in today's post. I remember when I wasn't getting enough fats in my diet...my hair fell out, my nails were peeling, and my skin was dry and itchy. Now that I've upped the fat grams, I'm happier, I look much healthier, and I have so much more energy.

I like to refer to the 'Dirty Dozen' when buying organic foods. That way I'm not buying the most contaminated veggies and fruits, and I'm also saving money.

So true that you are what you eat, and I definitely only want to be the good stuff. :) I feel like we all so often get caught up in the word "fat" because it has such a negative connotation, but there are so many great benefits that we get from those healthy fats you were talking about...I could eat almonds and walnuts and pecans, etc, all day!
