Steppin’ to the Bad Side

by hungryyogini on April 21, 2009

Two walks, a tanning session (while studying for Business Law), and a couple of Managerial Economics questions later, I am feeling quite productive! I am liking the little spurts of exercise. It’s a nice distraction from the finals that are looming in the not so distant future.

Today I am leaning more towards larger snacks rather than actual meals. Just goin’ with the flow peeps.

Around 11:00 I had a Fage 2% with honey and an apple. I was a little disappointed with the honey one. Since it is refrigerated, the honey crystallizes and becomes gross and grainy. Bleh. I skipped the honey and added some Maple Cinnamon Almond Butter. Problem solved.

My second walk came after that. Each one is about 1.5 miles so I’m at about three today. Sweet!  Around 1:00pm I was quite hungry again and attempted to make an egg sandwich which turned into an egg white, broccoli and red bell pepper mess on top of an Ezekiel English Muffin. Oh, and a Babybel cheese somewhere in there too.

It was messy but very satisfying. And then I did something bad…

Third one in a week. It’s a slippery slope my friends. I need to step back into the light…

And what’s liquid chemicals without some dark chocolate?

See what final exams do to normally healthy eaters??? School is keeping me from having a healthy life. I should sue Wink

“See” ya!

I am with you on the Coke Zero! I love that stuff, it doesn’t taste “diet ” at all!

Haha, you are just like me! My drugs of choice are Coke Zero and dark chocolate. I know there are worse things out there.

I love the Bliss, they are the best. But at home (thanks to Easter) I have Dove rich dark chocolate squares, mmm…

Good luck on your finals and enjoy those walks!

I used to be a huge soda junkie – then a huge diet soda junkie. I’ve weaned myself for the last year or 2 but I totally agree with you – slippery slope! Once you start with one, it makes a conscious exercise of willpower to step away again.

Glad to hear you’ve been able to stick to the “go with the flow” plan. All these big snacks looks so good!

Sorry to hear that the yogurt wasn’t too tastey. I know Oikos Greek Yogurt has a honey flavor that I just LOVE. You might want to try that if you are craving a good honey variety.

you could do much worse than a diet coke and Dove chocolates :)

good luck with all the studying!

I totally sympathize- exams are having me eat all sorts of crazy things too! And at all hours of the day. We’re almost there, though!

Seriously, exams do ruin healthy eating. You should have seen all of the sweets that tempted me all last week. It’s crazy! Good for you staying active though with your walks. I’m about to embark on one myself :)

Love the “blogging set” you got for your birthday! The place mat is especially adorable!

Good luck with your studying!

Love a little chocolate to spice up the day :)

Glad your walks are working out for you!

SO funny, I actually like how the honey gets those little crystals in it for some reason!

Good luck with all of your studying!

I can’t even imagine what’s going to happen when I get to finals. Probably a lot worse than Coke and chocolate, though.

If it makes you feel better, I’m drinking a Diet Coke right now…

13 Erin April 21, 2009 at 4:00 pm

ohhh, school is making me very unhealthy too. you definitely aren’t doing too bad though. it’s that chocolate that gets me!!

I love your idea of incorporating little bits of exercise into your studying sessions… it keeps the body and mind fresh! Good luck!

I am weak in the face of advertising! I just got up and got a diet coke!

I definitely like almond butter over honey. Nice idea to switch :)

18 Hangry Pants April 21, 2009 at 6:35 pm

Snacks are definitely an excellent thing!

I agree with the slippery slope comment! Although I’ve gotten much better at having one and moving on.

I love nut butters in yogurt. Yum yum.

Haha, the “Bad Side.” Don’t feel too bad about it, we’re not judging! Everything in moderation, right?

20 Evie April 21, 2009 at 8:17 pm

Hey Court…love your new apron! Question: I tried the Fage 0% yogurt and found it to taste more like a savory (sour creamish-type) topping versus a traditional yogurt. Is the 2% different? Thanks!

21 hungryyogini April 21, 2009 at 8:27 pm

Evie,
Yes, it’s definitely tart since it is plain and the consistency is definitely reminiscent of sour cream. I sometimes use it as a substitue. The 2%, in my opinion, is a bit less tart than the 0%. Sometimes I add a little bit of honey or maple syrup to take “the edge” off but I find any other yogurt to be too sweet anymore. Hope that is helpful! Let me know if you have any other questions.
