Summer Flavahhh

Nothing says Summer like a colorful, fresh salad…

This little beauty had organic mixed lettuce, grilled chicken, a chopped organic pink lady apple, carrots and cucumber. YUM. I enjoyed it.

Apparently salad makes me giggle.

This afternoon we went duck hunting,

bird watching,

and tree hugging.

It was quite the outdoor adventure, followed by another adventure in it’s own right…a trip to Costco. Look what we found gracing the dairy aisle…

Now, I know I have said in the past that I don’t love Chobani. Well, the truth is I don’t hate it, I just prefer FAGE 2%, mostly because I tend to avoid fat free anything. But who could resist this 12 pack of Greek Yogurt yummmm. I was rather excited.

We also found these little cutie patooties… (yes, I just said patootie)

It’s a little single serving of brie! It has 70 calories per piece and is really yummy! Well, it’s no triple creme brie but it is quite good. With some craisins

Mmmm…

I also made my first “beer run” this afternoon. My dad has been working in the yard all day and mentioned he was “thirsty for some Blue Moon.” I gladly volunteered to pick up some for him, mainly because I wanted to see what the reaction of the cashier would be when it looked like a teenager was trying to buy a six pack. Well, they didn’t even ID me!! What the heck…I really wanted her to. And isn’t there some kind of law against that?? Oh well…

In other news…

The About Me page (called The Yogini) has been revamped! Check it out! I think it’s a lot more fun now Open-mouthed

Love, Peace, Chick’un Grease (gotta give a shout out to the veggies out there too!)

That face on the tree is kinda freaky hehe…

3 Micks May 2, 2009 at 4:38 pm

Wow! Great finds. The brie looks excellent

Greek yogurt, mini cheese, and Blue Moon!! You picked out the best things in life ;) I always get annoyed when they don’t card me, as well!

5 Lisa May 2, 2009 at 5:10 pm

I wish my costco had chobani and the mini bries!

Hah, I never get carded either. It baffles me, because I totally look like I’m twelve.

I do, however, get a suspicious look anytime I try to get into a bar. When they check my ID, they find the same picture that I had when I got my learners permit at age fifteen. I kind of feel like I hold up the line.

OH MY GOODNESS, that salad does look soooooooooooo colorful–like a box of crayons exploded on your plate!! Okay, that’s kind of gross and wouldn’t taste so great but that’s what came to mind as I am typing this. LOL (Love the tree hugger, too.) ;-)

Mmm, I love all the colors in your salad! How delicious =)

Of course a kombucha accompanied that salad too, yes?! Ahh love it, I’m craving one now!

You look like you are having such a nice time at home!! Keep enjoying yourself Court! :)

beautiful salad, and I’m jealous of the chobanis! I can’t find them here.

Isn’t it sad when you’re wishing someone will ID you? :) I did the same thing when I turned 21.

Salads are the BEST when topped with fruit. This one looks AMAZING! I love pink lady apples! They are so crisp are tart.

Sounds like you and Raleigh had quite the adventure today.

And what the heck about the beer run? 99% of the fun of getting the beer is being carded! Totally disappointing! Oh well, at least you have the rest of your life to be carded – and buy it legally ;)

I am totally jealous of your Greek Yogurt supply! The grocery store where I buy mine is terrible at restocking and only carries Oikos. I’m not complaining, but I’d love to try the other varieties too!

12 Gena May 2, 2009 at 8:46 pm

That salad looks so good, Courtney! I can’t wait to try it.

13 Adi (oatonomy.com) May 2, 2009 at 8:55 pm

I’m a new reader of your blog, and I’m definitely loving it! That salad looks great — apples in a salad always tastes so summery.

14 Emily May 2, 2009 at 9:17 pm

That’s too funny about the beer! Your salad looks soooo goood!

15 Christina May 2, 2009 at 9:20 pm

mm I love apple salads!

Sorry for them not IDing you, the same thing happened to me after my 21st birthday – it sucks!

16 Olga May 2, 2009 at 9:37 pm

MMMmmmm. Brie=so good!

Love the beer! I just turned 21 and now people don’t card me when I want them to! hahah

17 Ellen M May 3, 2009 at 4:01 am

those mini bries look like the greatest. Definitely adding those to my grocery list :-)

18 Beadie @ What I Ate Yesterday May 3, 2009 at 7:10 am

I have never seen either of those at Costco, must go there now!

19 Katrina (gluten free gidget) May 3, 2009 at 8:10 am

HAHAHAHA! I ALWAYS get carded. Even when I meet new people at work, they all ask how old I am because I look 12!
Love the baby cheeses! Little things are the best!

20 Diana May 3, 2009 at 11:14 am

That salad looks divine! And those mini-brie servings…too cool – I want some! :)

21 Caroline May 3, 2009 at 11:16 am

That brie is the cutest! I love anything miniature, especially things that are portioned into serving size;) Looks like I might need to head to Costco!

22 elise May 3, 2009 at 12:16 pm

23 christina May 3, 2009 at 12:24 pm

Elise

There is a Costo in NYC, its in Queens, long island city, you can get there by taking the N or W subway to Broadway and walking down to veron blvd. cant miss it!

24 Heather McD (Heather Eats Almond Butter) May 3, 2009 at 1:36 pm

Haha – I get upset when I don’t get ID’d either.

Beautiful salad, and I loved the “tree hugging”. Courtney, you’re too cute!

Our Costco has never carried anything but those aspartame laden lite yogurts. I know it’s no Fage, but I would have jumped on the Chobani bandwagon for what I’m sure was a great deal!

Awww, cute little brie. :)

Hope you’re having a wonderful Sunday!
