Yoganatomy

Wow, what a weekend I had! But more on that in a minute.

I have been playing around a bit more with having a raw breakfast and I finally had success.

On Sunday I soaked about 1/3 cup of oats and 1 tbsp of flax in some “cheater’s raw almond milk” which is just filtered water, a bit of raw almond butter and some raw honey blended together. In the morning I added some defrosted raspberries and raw almond butter. I sprinkled about a tablespoon of granola on top for some crunch so it wasn’t 100% raw but it was pretty darn close!

It was perfectly sweet and delicious. I really enjoyed it!

This morning I made muesli again with the same amount of oats and flax, however I soaked it in some unsweetened vanilla hempmilk which is not raw. I added a chopped pear, raw almond butter, raw honey and another sprinkle of granola for some crunch.

It was great and is quickly becoming my new favorite breakfast. I think next time I will try an apple for some extra crunch. It’s also extremely easy to prepare. Try it!

This weekend’s focus was Anatomy. It was really cool to look at the mechanics of yoga and learn what’s kind of going on inside someone’s body when they are in a certain pose. There was so much information though that it was quite overwhelming. I am definitely going to need to do some serious studying.

Most of the weekend was lecture and let me just tell you, I do NOT sit still well! I was going a bit stir crazy by the end, just sitting and listening and not moving. We finally practiced Ashtanga yoga on Sunday morning and I enjoyed every second of moving with my breath. And I typically don’t love Ashtanga! It made sitting for the day much easier.

I felt like our little teacher training group grew closer this weekend. Each of us are so different and bring something unique and new to the table. It’s fun to learn from everyone and take it all in. Yesterday we all wore black and hung around after to take pictures of some partner and group poses, basically using each other as props. Here’s a little taste…

Big group of yoga love and me doing my favorite pose, Adho Mukha Vrksasana or handstand. I added my own little gymnastics leg variation Open-mouthed

I still can’t believe how fast these weekends go by. Literally I blink and it’s Sunday afternoon, time for everyone to go their separate ways again. As tedious and long as this weekend was, I still enjoyed it and wouldn’t have wanted to be anywhere else.

I’m in a teacher training for yoga too! Which training are you doing? My handstand is not nearly as nice as yours. Since, I’m still a rookie.

Beautiful pictures from your yoga training. I’m jealous…we just started doing handstand prep on Thursday and my arms were sore for quite a few days! It would be awesome to see more yoga pictures in your blog.
Enjoy the rainy day!

Hannah,
Don’t worry, you will get there! I always say I cheated a little since I was a gymnast for so long! I grew up doing handstands!
