Yesterday I got to practice yoga with one of my favorite teachers and fellow yoginis. I must admit that a home practice is rather hard to get going. I usually hop on the mat with the best intentions, ready to have a nice solid practice complete with challenging poses and the like. But unfortunately after about 10 minutes I find myself distracted by the many happenings of the house (dogs barking, phones ringing…you get the picture) and counting down the minutes until my session is up.
I know, I know. Not exactly yoga-esque is it? Ashley and I met up yesterday morning to practice and were able to push each other to work hard and challenge ourselves into new poses and places. We did a beautiful flow, dancing around the mat for a good 90 minutes and challenged ourselves with handstand (Adho Mukha Vrksasana), Tittibhasana, and Eka Pada Koundiyanasana, among others.
Practicing yoga with a buddy is kind of the same concept as an exercise friend. You will probably run/walk/bike, etc. a lot longer with a friend than on your own, right? Same thing goes for me and my practice. I need a little extra nudge to get to new poses and make myself stronger. And that we did! We worked played hard, challenged ourselves, and had a great time doing so! My hamstrings and glutes are thanking me today ![]()
My latest favorite post-yoga fuel is the “You Can’t Judge a Book By It’s Cover” Salad. Seriously ya’ll…try it! It looks somewhat gross, but it is really the most delicious bowl of veggies I have ever had! I may or may not have had it for lunch today too. I jazzed up with some bell pepper and chicken too. YUMMMMM.
I think I will be eating this salad every day for a while ![]()
I’m very excited for this relaxing weekend to come. I’m just gonna keep it simple and spend some time with friends to celebrate the 4th. A little swimming, good food, and lots of laughs. My kind of day! What are you doing?
Happy Friday!

Glad you enjoyed your yoga practice! Sounds wonderful. I cannot wait until I can do those poses you linked to. Wow!

I so want to be able to do a handstand! Hopefully after a little yoga training this summer.
I made that salad today! It was SO good!
I’m the same way with yoga at home. I just get too distracted!
If I judged all my food by its looks, I wouldn’t eat! If it’s got ingredients that make me happy, it’s on. Your salad qualifies. :D
Happy 4th!
How long have you been doing yoga? I started recently but i can not wait to be able to do those poses ill give it a year or so.lol but i ove doing yoga and i hope i an find a yoga buddy when i go to college.
To me the picture of your meal….depics….health! That my friend is “delicious”! Would you mind sharing the ingredients….I would love to follow in your “footsteps”! 8-)
Happy 4th of July!
That salad looks beautiful!
What a great-sounding yoga practice. You musta been thrilled!
aw i would love to have a yoga buddy — unfortunately i don’t know any yoginis within a 100 mile radius :( glad you enjoyed your practice, my dear!
Gotta love long yoga/workout sessions, but that salad would make me want to end early! Haha, it just look too good.
I sure ain’t judging…that salad looks hugely delish!
I am SO trying yoga when I get to college…You’ve inspired me! :-D
Your salad looks super good! I took the link back to your previous post and wondered – how often do you use your spiralizer? I hear they are actually really cheap, and was wondering if you find it to be a useful tool. I’d love to get one but was wondering if my fellow bloggers recommend a certain brand or anything.
Have a great holiday! :)
You are truly making my mouth water with these salads lately!!
Sounds like a wonderful yoga practice! It’s always fun to get in some challenging poses!
DELICIOUS salad! WOW! I’m so impressed by your creations! :)
Ha! That is EXACTLY how I am when it comes to my home practice! I was just telling HEAB that whenever I try to get into savasana, my little weeny dog thinks that means it’s snuggle time. Let me tell you, it is hard to relax when there is a weeny dog poking you with his cold wet nose or nuzzling his face in your armpit. Not exactly conducive to meditation!
I love working out with a friend! Whether it’s running, biking, weights or yoga, I definitely work harder with someone else there!
Those poses are crazy, girl! I just did my first chaturanga last night and was really excited. sheesh!
Love the salad, and I don’t think it looks nasty. Still lusting after your spirialer!
