While I should probably be in Gainesville working my hiney off and studying various intriguing topics like Debt and Capital Markets, I chose to drive home for a very long Labor Day weekend and have been enjoying myself thoroughly since arriving in Tampa late yesterday. Nothing like a good game of hookie! But I won’t tell if you won’t…
This afternoon I had the pleasure of dining with one of my favorite yogis/ever-famous creator of OmBlogger.com, Stephen.
We entertained the idea of going to Grassroot, one of my favorite places (see here and here), but decided to step out of the box and try something new this afternoon. Cafe Hey was really cute and quaint and the food was quite good!
I ordered a simple salad with Turkey to get my daily veggie fix…
And Stephen got some kind of delicious looking turkey sandwich.
Much of the conversation revolved around yoga. No surprise there! Stephen is a self-proclaimed “power-yoga junkie” and is quite an amazing teacher, if I don’t say so myself. He’s the one who got me doing handstand vinyasas, afterall. Next step: Tittibasana directly into Handstand. Oh yes my friends, I’m gonna make it happen!
Speaking of making things happen…
I must say that waking up and taking a few moments each morning to be grateful for a new day has really made a difference for me. It is something that I have always loved to do, but just got out of the habit of doing until the past couple of weeks. My days feel so much more complete, and my relationship towards myself, one that I have always struggled with, feels a bit more compassionate and forgiving. I really believe that just taking a few moments to invite compassion, or patience, or whatever you may need, can really make a huge difference in your outlook! Anyone been trying it? Has it changed how you feel at all? I’d love to hear your experiences ![]()
Well, it’s about bed time for this old soul…Have a good one, friends!

You used to be a gymnast, right? That combination is a press to handstand!
Enjoy your long Labor Day weekend!
Sometimes simple salads just taste the best. Enjoy the long weekend!
I have found that when I do remind myself of all of the good things in my life, I have a much more peaceful day.
Everybody needs a hookie day now and again!
I managed to take a few centering moments for a few mornings in a row and it definitely made a difference in my day. Things are getting hectic for me with school starting so I’ve been forgetting but I need to make the time.
I agree completely. Reminding ourselves to appreciate the simple things in our lives is such a freeing experience. It truly changes my outlook on the entire day!
Hope you are well and I wish you the best Labor Day weekend!!!
We wish we’d known you were yogsters- Rebecca, one of your servers yesterday, is a certified yoga instructor and I’ve been practicing for 13 years! Glad you enjoyed your meal,..stop by anytime.
