I’m experiencing first hand how David felt after his trip to the dentist…
I took my own trip to the dentist today. Well, actually it was a periodontist. I had to have some minor gum surgery this morning…a frenectomy and a gum graft. They hooked me up to the laughing gas, numbed my whole mouth, and got to work! 40 minutes later I walked out feeling like a hybrid between drunken Snooki after her run in at the bar in Jersey Shore and Cindy Lou Who from the Grinch. I’ll be packing my bags and moving to whoville later this evening…
Once home, I put on the nearest hat I could find and ran out to get some soup, hoping no one would wonder if I’d just had a bad round of collagen injections…
I’m not supposed to eat “anything that’s difficult to chew” for a couple days since I have stitches in two places in my mouth. They recommended soups and smoothies and yogurt and such, so I ran to the health store to get some soup and a bag of frozen peas. Soup for my tummy, and frozen peas for my face.
They had vegetable soup with black-eyed peas and barley today on the hot bar. They make their soups daily at this little health food store here in town. It was really delicious, even though most of it ended up on the table since I still couldn’t feel my face at that point ![]()
I spent the afternoon hangin’ out, reading a handbook about my Dad’s fancy camera (that he is so graciously letting me take to Paris!),
and doing some research on my new place of residence…
I think I will fit in very well in Whoville. Although I started to feel a little bit more like the Grinch once the feeling came back to my mouth this afternoon…
Anyway.
I decided that the bag of frozen peas I’d been carrying around as an ice pack was not a sufficient serving of vegetables for the day.
I figured an egg scramble with spinach would make a good dinner…Veggies, protein, and not much chew factor. Mmm.
I enjoyed my squishy eggs while my parents had solid food for dinner…
Of course the one time I can’t eat solid food, my mom decides to put her culinary talents to the test. Figures. It was a healthy version of chicken cordon bleu; chicken layered with mozzarella, spinach and whole wheat bread crumbs.
I’m not sure if I was drooling over the delicious food, or if it was some kind of strange side effect from the surgery this morning ![]()
Time for a movie, and an early night to bed. Enjoy your evening! And some solid food on my behalf ![]()

HAHA!!! OMG my video just CRACKED me up!!! That totally reminded me of how I felt after getting my wisdom teeth pulled. It must be so confusing for a little kid! ;) Glad you got your situation worked out though.
That dinner looks FABULOUS! You really have some skills Courtney.

Your mom’s healthy version of chicken cordon bleu look amazing! Any chance that you know which recipe she used? Or did she come up with it on her own? She’s got some mad skills if she did ;) Enjoy your evening and I hope you get to feeling better! xoxo

Feel better soon, Courtney!
