Deck the Halls, and Tummies too.

by hungryyogini on December 13, 2009

Christmas in Florida is always…interesting.

The high’s this week are in the upper 70’s to low 80’s, which makes getting in the Christmas spirit challenging, to say the least. Shorts and flip-flops doesn’t exactly scream “Ho! Ho! Ho!”.

In an attempt to cultivate some holiday cheer, we’ve decked the halls,

gazed at the Christmas tree for inspiration,

and have made our best efforts to be merry and gay…

But nothin’.

So since it doesn’t feel like winter, or that Christmas is in just a couple weeks, I did my best to at least make it taste like the holiday season was upon us.

{ Click here to see the recipe for Sweet and Spicy Butternut Squash Soup } This soup is really delicious, and I imagine it would be quite comforting on a cold winter night.

I’m off to put on my shorts and flip-flops, and head out for a walk. Enjoy your Sunday! And I hope you northerners are staying warm! Hopefully some butternut squash soup will do the trick Wink

I know what you mean! I recently moved to GA, but grew up in the north, so I’m definitely all confused about how this could possibly be time for christmas…I mean, I ran in shorts and a tank top two days ago!!! :)

But, that soup looks delish! I might have to try the recipe!

ugh i am with you on the weather. this is my first full ‘winter’ in florida and i am having a hard time convincing myself that i’m going to be celebrating xmas (somewhere that it’s actually cold, no less) in less than 2 weeks.

It is freezing cold and raining here :( It seems to be raining here more than anything, we are already well over the annual average. None the less it is gloomy and doesn’t feel much like Christmas to me either.

Not gonna lie, I am slightly bitter of your weather as I comment in my fleece jacket and snuggled in a heated blanket.

Thanks for spreading the holiday cheer, Court. Lovely photos!

I’m in Canada and it’s snowing right now! We’re having quite the Winter Wonderland, it’s hard to imagine the sunniness of faraway Florida :) I’m going up to San Diego next month for the very first time, hoping it will be sunny there!

It’d be interesting to spend Christmas in flip flops and shorts–we should trade places! :D
Looks like you’ve got great decorations though–and the soup looks hearty and delicious!

I’m a little jealous actually of your nice warm weather.
We have a load full of snow and it’s pretty cold where I am!
It would definitely be a different experience to have a green Christmas!
