Flyin’ High

by hungryyogini on December 20, 2009

This past weekend I did a yoga workshop with Krista and Brock Cahill, and let me tell you…they mean business! Seriously, watch this…

Pretty amazing stuff, huh? We spent the weekend “playing with gravity” and working on every arm balance under the sun. I’m pretty sure I stood on my hands more than my feet this weekend and I am now aware of muscles I did not know existed! I have a ways to go before I’m a “floating yogi” like Brock and Krista, but I’m excited to keep practicing and getting stronger! Well, once this soreness wears off Wink

After a 2.5 hour session on Friday, and a total of 5 hours yesterday, we were more than excited to relax, enjoy each others company, and of course…eat. And we did….for 4 hours straight. Our little “yogi family” celebrated the weekend with Krista last night, Fiesta style. Think fajitas, margaritas, tamales. We had tons of fun last night, and even more food! Between the 8 of us there, we ate 9 avocados worth of homemade guacamole. Hungry, flying yogis sure can eat.

The star of the show was dessert…a chocolate and peppermint cake from Wright’s, which makes the best cakes in town.

Nom nom nom.

After a weekend of  crazy yoga, and way too much food and wine, I needed a little detox this morning for breakfast…

After a quick whirl…

Muchhhhhhh better. Nothin’ like a little spinach in your smoothie to recharge your batteries!

I’m off to soak in epsom salt for the rest of the week Wink Hope you guys had a great weekend too!

My jaw is on the floor. I didn’t know the human body could do that. So strong! And flowing soooo smoothly. Wow.

wow.. she makes that look sooo easy.. and like a Dance!!! :)

Do you have any good suggestions for beginner+ yoga videos online? I have bought some and none of them have been good!!

Thank you and enjoy your week in epsom salts! hehe

Wow- she makes it look so graceful and effortless. I would be crying in pain lol but it’s some good motivation.

wow! things like that just blow my mind – there is no way i could ever do that. when i see these images online, i am certain that they had to be generated by a computer somehow. it just looks like it would hurt so bad and that the body isn’t that flexible or strong.
and if you soak in epsom salt, try adding green alcohol in the tub at the same time – it does wonders for me!

OMG, I am so impressed by Krista! I’m planning on doing a teacher training program in 2010, and hope to someday get to that level. Such a beautiful practice! :)

Hannah,
I know, it really looks like it’s not real…but it is! I saw her do this in person. Very crazy…talk about a strong core!!!

That is amazing! I’m so impressed that you can do all those balancing poses (even though you were a gymnast and have an extra ‘leg up’ ;) ). Hopefully I can get there eventually!

Too Fun!
Wish I could have joined you, trying to save my money for my travels to Asheville as I work on my 500 hour. Glad you had fun.
Funny you should mention Wright’s and that Peppermint cake, I was just thinking about that cake today! Yummy!

Floating Yoga is so, so amazing!!! I can’t believe Krista, I didn’t know any human could do this.

I can’t get over how amazing Krista is at yoga! It’s incredible and so inspiring to watch. That’s awesome that you got to do some yoga with her. That would definitely push me if I was doing yoga next to such an amazing yogi like her!
