The best way to spread Christmas cheer…

is baking granola for all to eat!

I’ve been channeling my inner Elf all morning and have been bonding with one of the “4 main food groups” in the kitchen…

“You like sugar, huh?”

“Is there sugar in syrup? Then YES!”

Since I am broke (what? Just tryin’ to be honest!) I decided to make Christmas presents this year. What better than a batch of crunchy granola to say Merry Christmas? Well, those shoes would be nice….but just go with me here.

I woke up bright and early this morning and got to work in the kitchen to make my favorite granola recipe for all of my granolas friends.

Here we are pre-syrup,

and then into the pan after syrup,

I even treated myself to a bit of the “granola batter” for breakfast before I put it in the oven…

Just a little Fage 2% and some of the dry mix (just oats, nuts, raisins and cinnamon– just like a muesli).

Here we are after a little roasty roast -

in the pan…

and in thebowl…

After I made the presents, the next step was obviously gift wrapping…

And ta-da! Gifts from me, all made with love!

Are you making any gifts this year? What are you making?

I did. I made caramel corn for some of my co-workers and also made instant hot chocolate mix (Alton Brown’s recipe). Both seem to be a big hit.. I even used those exact bags. I thought they were adorable!

I did the exact same thing this year! I even used such similar bags for packaging. Made the perfect gifts! ;)

What gorgeous granola you made!!! I make mine with honey and it turns really brown and toasted on the outside…which is AWESOME but I’m totally gonna use maple syrup for my next batch. it sounds so yummy!!

Wow! That looks so good and honestly I didn’t think making granola was that easy. I need to start making my own instead of paying $6 a bag at the grocery store!

I did quite a few home-made gifts this year: citrus sea salt, manchego twists and some lime cookies! Oh and some pineapple infused vodka! (Not sure how I could have forgotten that one!)

yummmmmm!

I sometimes make gifts. But I wasn’t planning on it this year. My gifts are entirely unimaginative this year, which bums me out. I love giving personal gifts that just seem to say that person’s name to me…
