Santa? What are you doing here so soon?

by hungryyogini on December 24, 2009

For the past few years, my family and I have opened presents and done our “Christmas morning” activities on Christmas Eve. We’ve traveled on Christmas day for the past few years so we would enjoy our “Christmas morning” early so that we could fit it all in before we left town. We’re stayin’ put this year, but decided to continue our new tradition of opening gifts on Christmas Eve morning, and enjoying the day with each other.

Nana has always been with us on Christmas morning too, and this year was no different. We went and picked her up early this morning. She, of course, was decked head to toe in Christmas themed clothing. Gotta love her.

We started with some breakfast… My parents made a super-rich breakfast casserole of some kind. Nothin’ like a little meat and cheese to start off the morning. It has eggs, bread, cheese, sausage…and butter.

And what better to wash down the meat, cheese and butter main course than a side of coffee cake!

This was my dad’s breakfast plate…

Look’s like someone’s gonna be on the naughty list this year…After taking a tiny taste of each (both delicious!), I had my own breakfast, cuz I’m cool like that.

After breakfast and coffee, we opened some presents. Raleigh went first…

This toy was in her stocking (yes, she has a stocking…) and she ran out of the living room and into the kitchen with it in her mouth while we were eating. Silly girl. She might be making an appearance on the naughty list too!

Vegetables were necessary for lunch,

especially since we have a Christmas Eve dinner to go to tonight.  We go to my Aunt Suzanne’s every Christmas Eve for an evening of fun and food. My brother and I used to bring our pajama’s over to her house when we were little and we would listen to the “Santa Tracker” on the radio. Good times.

What are your Christmas Eve traditions?

Have a very Merry Christmas! Hope you spend lots of time with the ones you love Open-mouthed

We do something different each year. Kind of funny actually as the rest of the year we do the same ole, same ole. This year we are going to Christmas Eve party at a friends. I am excited to share my time with more and more new found friends just like you. I am glad, I heard what you said and stopped missing out. xxx ooo Courtney!

Aww, your Nana is adorable!! :)

I don’t celebrate Christmas so there aren’t any formal traditions, but this time of the year is always spent with loved ones – friends and family! One thing I like to do during this time around is spending time in my kitchen to try all those crazy recipes I could never get around to trying while being attached to my desk (and my books) during the school year! :)

Happy holidays Courtney!

P.S. I hope you’ll accept the Beautiful Blogger award that I’ve passed on to you, having recently received it from Gena… :)
