Yesterday afternoon I had the pleasure of meeting up with Gillian. Around 3:30 I made my way to Rue Saint-Florentin,
and couldn’t help but smile at what I saw when I got off the metro.
I was even MORE delighted to hear my name (pronounced correctly, that is – in France my name sounds a lot like Carnnny
) and to see a smiling face! We made our way down to a little cafe and sat for a while to chat and sip some tea and coffee.
It was so fun to talk to Gillian and hear about her experience in Paris – especially about when she was new to the city, just like I am now. Seriously, check out her blog! She’s great! She made me feel a lot better about the whole adjustment period and gave me lots of great tips like where to get some good Indian food (can’t wait!) where to buy cheap leggings and a yoga mat.
Feels much more like h(om)e now! It’s no Manduka, but it will do
I’ve already warned my roommates – “Don’t be alarmed if you come in and I’m standing on my head!”
One of the cool places Gillian told me about was the Marché Monge – a little market that’s open Wednesday, Friday and Sunday. Being the foodie that I am, I couldn’t wait to check it out.
One of my roommates and I took the metro to Place Monge and walked right up to see this -
It was so neat – any fresh fruit or vegetable you could imagine. There were lots of vendors all with their different things for sale – honeys and jams, meats and cheeses and various clothes. I really enjoyed it, especially since you can get produce that is really fresh and very inexpensive. I bought des hericots verts et des pommes.
Ohh, Paris. Je t’adore.
It’s warming up a bit here – either that, or we are finally mastering the art of layering. I’m thinking I’ll bundle up and venture out this afternoon for some tea and people watching at a cozy cafe, oui?
À bientôt!

Oh my gosh, your dad’s camera takes BEAUTIFUL photos. I can’t get over the foam. Oh my gosh, how I love a little coffee with my foam. Those French baristas need to come teach my local Starbucks employees a thing or two!
