Do you ever just wonder how you got so darn lucky to be right where you are? I had one of those kind of days today. Such a simple day. But so darn beautiful.
After a quick two-hour class this morning, I met up with Gillian to check out another one of Paris’ fabulous markets. Lots of fresh vegetables and fruits (I bought some apples and we split a bag of avocados) and some prepared foods as well. I was famished since I hadn’t eaten since I left my apartment early today. We saw one of the vendors make this amazing wrap with some kind of thyme infused oil, hommos, tabbouleh and chicken and I knew I had to get one…
There’s hommous among us! I’m sure Gillian got sick of hearing how much I loved this wrap – but seriously…it was delicious. They toasted the wrap (and all it’s gluten filled goodness) on that big round dome lookin’ thing (anyone know what it’s called) and then put the wrap back on once it was filled to warm through. Mmmm. Street food is the best!
After devouring my wrap (and making a mess in the process!), we took a little walk around Paris. I’m so thankful to have met Gillian – she is a wonderful person and has made Paris feel a tad smaller. Coming to a huge city is overwhelming, and it’s been so nice to have someone to show me the ropes. We headed toward my neck of the woods and saw somethin’ beautiful along the way…
Seriously. Do I live here!? Pinch me. The sun decided to pay a little visit today which made our walk so much more enjoyable.
Our walk took us to the Bon Marché – a place I’m sure I will frequent often! We had quite a few laughs while perusing the various pastries (and a certain almond croissant…ahem, Gillian. I think you know what I’m talking about!), dried fruits (did you know they have the most fantastic medjool dates here?), and of course…butter. I think we stood in front of the various butters for several minutes. Wandering Paris with a fellow foodie was quite the treat. We were in a food lover’s paradise all day!
I’m fairly certainly my love affair with Paris is official. We wandered the neighborhood for quite some time as Gillian pointed out various locations of interest along the way. I took in the sights and was overwhelmed with gratitude that I get to live in such a beautiful place for a while…
Sigh.
We stopped at a few more places, one of particular interest…but you’ll just have to be a little patient to hear about that one ![]()
I got home this evening and unloaded all the days goodies – some olive oil and balsamic vinegar for salad dressing, apples, and two avocados (that are going to make a great breakfast over the next few days!).
My friends and I planned to head out for some Indian food tonight, but were a bit overwhelmed with the amount of reading and homework we have due tomorrow and decided to stay in. No worries….
Like those wine glasses? They are extra special. Yogurt comes in glass here…
We’re just trying to do our part and RECYCLE! ![]()
Bonne nuit, mes amis!
