Yesterday our group took a trip to Musee d’Orsay. My roommates and I left early, giving ourselves lots of time to make it to meet up with our group in time, and of course, still managed to get lost and were about 15 minutes late. Oppsie! Flippin’ metro…
The accidental scenic route was well-worth the stress of being a bit tardy…
We walked around the museum with headsets so our teacher could tell us about the different pieces of art. It’s so cool to be learning about French culture in class…and then to actually see what you are learning about in person!!
I didn’t take too many pictures inside, mostly because I was listening to what our professor had to say, but we saw everything from Monet and Van Gogh, to Courbet’s L’Origine du Monde.
We were all famished by the end of the tour and took the bus back to Montparnasse, where our school is. We settled on some not-so-great street food, and all ended up feeling sick for the rest of the day. Blah. I got some kind of paprika chicken something…
If I could rewind and undo this meal, I would…but what are you supposed to do when you are a group of 10 hungry girls on a students budget!? Exactly. We ALL felt sick after this meal. Never again!
I was excited to wake up this morning and get back on a healthy track. Yoga was on my agenda! I took a class by Laura Schneider on YogaVibes.
I took my first class by them (from Kathryn Budig) over Christmas and really loved it! I think this is a great resource for those of you who practice at home…or move to Paris, far far away from the comfort of your studio at home
They offer recordings of live yoga classes from lots of well known teachers. The classes are going to be a great way for me to keep up with my practice without dishing out some majahhhh cash for Parisian yoga classes…although I do plan to head to a studio here soon!
I rolled out my mat (Did I mention that I hoped and prayed that my room in Paris would have floor space for yoga? Asketh and you shall receiveth!) and got my yoga on for a good hour and felt so much better after. All this walking around the city is making my hips and hamstrings so tight. It felt so good to move and stretch.
I continued with the healthy theme and walked to the local market to pick up a few things we needed here at the apartment, then came back to make some lunch; mixed lettuce with olive oil and balsamic vinegar, a fried egg, and some fresh green beans.
Like my stove top? Yep – we are pretty high tech here.
We also made our way to the laverie to do some laundry this afternoon – it only cost 10 euro for a load of laundry (sarcasm on the only). Won’t be puttin’ those skinny jeans in the dirty laundry hamper anytime soon!
Keepin’ it low key tonight – we have a big day tomorrow! A trip to Versaille! Can’t wait to tell you all about it.
Bonne soirée!

Oh I’ve always wanted to go to the Musee D’Orsay, but unfortunately have not had the chance when I’ve been in Paris. Did you learn how the clock is there because that building used to be a train station? I think that’s such a cool fact ;)
Can’t wait to see Versaille!! Such a beautiful place, I hope you have some sunshine to walk around when you’re there!
