Even in Paris, Monday’s always get me. Yesterday started bright and early – the sun was shining, the birds were chirping…okay, I exaggerate a little.
Monday got off to a bit of a rough start. I don’t know why, but this past week has been really difficult for me, adaptation why. Dont’ get me wrong, I love Paris and definitely don’t want to leave….but I do miss the comfort and ease of being at home (and I may or may not be considering a new career in trafficking Sweet Italian Cream coffee-mate creamer…I’m just sayin’).
Must be the four week mark or somethin’. I miss my regular yoga practice, and trust me, my body does too. I was planning on going to Rasa Yoga for the 6:30pm Ashtanga class last night but the day was hectic and I knew it would be quite the production to get myself there and back. I got on the mat at home instead (took Joan Hyman’s class on YogaVibes) and man-oh-man are my hips tight. To be honest, I’m stressing about my practice a bit. Do I practice twice a week? Three times? Never? Once? When? How? Blah, blah, blah. You get the picture. It’s only temporary, it’s only temporary…
Oh, and have I mentioned how much I miss my Sweet Italian Cream. Sigh…
But. If I had been home, saluting the sun to my heart’s content this past weekend, I wouldn’t have been here…
We took a little stroll to Jardin du Luxembourg on Saturday and spent the rest of the day wandering over the city with no real direction in mind. That’s my favorite way to spend my days here – wandering around just watching and seeing the streets of Paris in action.
This morning is off to a nice start – I slept in, finished watching Paris, Je t’aime (new favorite movie!), and made a quick brunch.
Mixed lettuce with red bell pepper and carrots, and an omelette (cooked in French butter….so delicious) with a little bit of Boursin cheese in the middle. Yumz.
Not too much on the agenda today – I have class from 2-5pm and a relaxing evening to follow.
Bonne Journée!

Hang in there, lady! I’m sure when you look back you’ll be amazed at how fast your time in Paris went. Enjoy! :)
what gorgeous blue skies! and so much color in your food…beautiful :) don’t worry about your practice…it will come, but you might not be in Paris forever!
I’m worried about getting homesick when I go abroad, too, but it’s such a once in a lifetime experience! Those pictures are so beautiful!
Beautiful pictures!!!
Your food always looks so beautiful – and yet it’s so simple. I’m envious! I’m really loving looking at all of your Paris pictures – they make me feel like I’m there. :-)
I hope you get over your homesickness!

I’m sorry it’s been hard for you to be so far from home. Your pictures are beautiful and experiences sound amazing, and one of the best parts it each of your readers can share that little piece of Paris that you bring to the Hungry Yogini.
I look forward to reading your blog every day and I hope your Tuesday is better than your Monday!
Is the bottom photo le Louvre?
Mae,
Thanks for your sweet comments and encouragement! I really appreciate it! Nope – all the photos were from Jardin du Luxembourg. Haven’t even made it to le Louvre yet!!
Oh Yoga! Sigh! I moved to Paris in July… I SO miss a regular practice.. and while the sun salutations in the morning really help, all the walking and stair climbing is murder on the hips! I’m so with you there… I live in the 15th, so it’s tough to imagine taking my mat and schlepping across town for a class. Still… Paris is lovely and the essential part of yoga is how we live our daily lives, not the asanas. :-) So breathe, smile and enjoy where you are right now!
Best,
Marie
That salad looks so fresh and crisp!
love your pictures, they are beautiful.
Can your pictures get anymore beautiful? No, they can’t. Lovely! :)

Don’t stress about your yoga my friend. Your mat will always be there, but you won’t always be in Paris. :)
It’s scary to lose a level of fitness that you have been working on for years, but when this experience in Paris is over, you’ll have years and years to get it back. It’s good to see that you’re trying to drink in the moment. Keep it up!
I can say that when my best friend studied in Scotland for a semester she certainly did hit a “4 week mark” and she really did want to come home. But once she was over the “hump” per se, she had the most incredible experience of her life, and I was so proud of her for making it through.
Those pictures are reason enough to stick it out! Hope you’ve found some peace this week :)
