I got off to a really late start today. For some reason I had no desire to fall asleep last night until 2am….very unlike me. It’s really quite a mystery actually…I managed to be up for an extra few hours than usual, and still managed to accomplish absolutely nothing. Rien. (Well, that’s not completely true. I did manage to watch the first half of I’ve Loved You So Long…good stuff!)
I didn’t wake up until about 9:40 this morning, another some somethin’ unlike me. Apparently in Paris I can stay up late and sleep in. Who knew! I’ve never really enjoyed sleeping in late…feels like such a waste! Hmm. Luckily it was rainy, doomy, gloomy here.
I watched the snow fall outside while my breakfast cooked…
Pretty ugly, right? But seriously….delicious. There was some creamy, herby Boursin cheese in the middle. Mmm. I’ve really been diggin’ the whole savory breakfast thing lately. Especially since I know that dessert comes just a few hours later…

After finally finishing up some school work and getting myself ready, I ventured out into the city around 3:00pm. Of course, it wouldn’t be a Saturday in Paris without some kind of demonstration…
It actually startled me at first…I could hear the shouting all the way from the courtyard at my apartment. All in good fun, I guess… This one was about giving citizenship to workers…or something like that.
I ventured to this little place in the 5th arrondissement just off of the metro Place Monge.
A little birdie told me about it and said I might be able to find some great organic products…and that I did! I was actually on the hunt for nutritional yeast but accidentally bought the wrong thing. Oopsie. The boxes were all written in Dutch, and I accidentally bought brewer’s yeast instead. Not sure what I’m gonna do with that…suggestions?
I did, however, find a little treasure…
A freshly baked loaf of gluten free bread!! This loaf is made from quinoa. I’m so exciteddddd! I felt like garbage after last night’s gluten filled feast, and always feel so left out when my roommates walk home with a freshly baked, golden baguette, looking super French and chic. Now I get to be cool too
I can see tomorrow’s breakfast now…scrambled eggs, and quinoa bread toast with butter and Bon Maman. Yum.
Not sure what’s on the agenda tonight…think we might hit the town! Tomorrow’s going to be an exciting day too. There are a bunch of festival’s all over the city for the Chinese New Year. And of course, it’s Valentine’s Day…in the most romantic city ever. Great. I’m sure my gorgeous French boyfriend has something magnificent planned…. Hey, a girl can dream!

My dad always bought brewer’s yeast when I was growing up, but I’m sorry to say I don’t know what he actually used it for. I think maybe he puts it in his orange juice? I know that sounds weird but I’m pretty sure that’s what he does. I’ll have to ask him now. You’ve intrigued me!
hey, maybe you’ll be meeting your gorgeous French boyfriend tonight… ;) hope you have a fabulous Valentine’s Day!

That gluten free bread looks delicious! Was it as great as it looked?
Have a wonderful evening and an awesome Valentines Day!
You should try to catch some of the V.day love in the most romantic city on camera so we can all live vicariously through you (them) :-)
Something about Paris always seems to induce weird sleep schedule changes, for me at least. Glad you found the bread. The pb and j oats (I’m guessing) look fab!
I just stocked brewer’s yeast for the very first time today at my new job. Now I wish I could remember what the directions for use were. If I remember correctly, I think you can add it to soups or stir-fries.
Either that, or make beer. Obviously.

Yum, that bread looks good. And I’m sure you can find something interesting to do/see on Valentine’s Day in the most romantic city!
In fact that egg omlett with spinach looks and taste just delicious as it is, no to mention that lovely boursin cheese in the middle, you just made my favorite fave food for breakfast. I couldn`t beleive it.
I wish you all the best for the rest of your staying.
I have no idea why you`re drinking out of a jam jar?
