Ahh yes, Valentine’s Day in Paris. Does it get anymore cliché than that!? It’s funny though…Valentine’s Day is a much bigger deal back in the states. Paris was focused on the Chinese New Year yesterday, and many parades and crowd goers filled the streets to celebrate. My friends and I got in on the fun…
Nope, Mr. Right wasn’t waiting with a bouquet of flowers for me yesterday morning. No handsome gentlemen making me pancakes for breakfast, or serenading me with La Vie en Rose next to a candlelit dinner for two. Just me, and the City of Light.
I decided to take myself on a date. We are, after all, in a very serious, ever growing, loving relationship with each other.
We strolled passed the Eiffel Tower.
And even exchange gifts…a little chocolate.
We’re happy together. Yep, me and myself…it’s love. Nothing’s perfect, and some days we like each other a little less. Sometimes it’s even hard to look at each other. There are tears. There’s yelling. Even yesterday…frustration that I didn’t take perfect pictures because somebody (ahem…) forgot to clean the camera lens, and even more frustration and curiosity as to why I went a little crazy on the aforementioned chocolate.
But with a little coaxing and a pep talk, we always make up. And we always know that at the end of the day, everything is how it should be, and we are very blessed to be where we are. Yep, me and myself…it’s love. Why should it be anything less?

i’m slightly obsessed with the lighting in that chocolate photo. i spent Easter Sunday in Italy two years ago, it’s definitely amazing to experience a holiday abroad!
That sounds like a pretty wonderful day (and date). I love the quote – I event saved it because it really speaks to me. Have a wonderful week!
I have that exact chinese hanging globe in my room at home. It hangs from my ceiling fan :)
I love your pictures, che bella! Although, that’s Italian. You get the picture. No pun intended. Well, half-intended. I’m glad you have a wonderful relationship with yourself, I think me and myself need to get to know each other better. I should take myself on a photography date, although it would be more fun in Paris!
Happy Valentine’s Day, lovely lady! You had a wonderful Valentine, indeed. :)
this is so awesome…just what i was going to blog about soon! loving yourself is so incredibly important…I’m glad you could take yourself on a date!
Beautiful photos and beautiful post!
Thank you for sharing a very “honest” date with yourself! Can be scary to say somethings out loud…but the release is so much better! Awesome date, lovely day…and Happy Valentine Day!
I scrolled through this post once and looked at your gorgeous pictures. Then I came back to the post and read the words the second time around…and am really glad I did. I love your description of your relationship with yourself. It is so honest and RIGHT! Oh, and if I could take photos, like yours…I would be in love with myself too. Cheer up, girlie =]
Great pictures as always…your Eiffel Tower shot is my new wallpaper. Loved the post, very honest, very creative! If I didn’t know better, I’d guess you to be a professional photo journalist! Really awesome…thanks for sharing.
There is no better love affair than one with yourself. The other affairs with handsome French men will come, but none will compare to these quiet moments.
Took some time to go to yoga today after a long day of work and thought of you. You help remind me of what’s important. Thank you.
Loved this post……actually i love all your posts :)
That is the best attitude to have! Before you can love anyone else, anyway, you should always love yourself. :-)
