Jica, what?

July 9, 2009

I am so intrigued by jicama. Maybe it’s the fact that I always forget the silent j when talking about it (resulting in many instances of public humiliation), despite the fact that I know it’s pronounced “hickama.”  Or maybe it’s the fact that I just don’t really know what it is. Is it a fruit? [...]

Off The Mat?

May 8, 2009

Yoga this morning was TOUGH. In fact, it kicked my butt. Big time. I think I was sore from yesterday’s wobble fest and a week full of classes. I’m loving the group classes. There’s just something about being in a room full of fellow yogi’s, all practicing together, riding the waves of our breath as [...]

Celebrate, We Will…

April 30, 2009

Hey guys! Sorry about my absence and less than normal posts the past few days. I finished up with exams on Tuesday night and drove home right after, getting home at around midnight.

Yesterday I attended Jenna’s brother’s Celebration of Life Service. It was such a beautiful service and Jenna and her family were so [...]

There’s HUMMUS Among Us!

April 24, 2009

Elissa from Sonny & Joe’s Hummus was kind enough to send me some samples of their goods.

Holy Hummus! Whenever we make/buy/eat hummus at our house, my dad inevitably starts yelling “There’s hummus among us!” Well, there is DEFINITELY hummus among us.  I didn’t know where to begin. When in doubt, go with the spicy [...]

By The Seat of My Pants-ish

April 20, 2009

Morning folks! I’m about to hit the road to head back to school. I woke up around 6:30 and pulled the rest of my things together. I sipped on some Tulsi tea while doing so:

Thanks to all I learned from yoga teacher training this weekend, I am newly inspired to keep things simple by not [...]

My Very Own Thankful Thursday

April 16, 2009

Tonight’s class was really great. Stephanie incorporates a lot of pranayama (breath work) into her classes, which is something I really love. We did kalabati breathing (which is really quick, short exhales through the nose to build heat in the body) as well as lion’s breath, and alternate nostril breathing at various moments in our [...]

21st Birthday Dinner

April 16, 2009

Last night’s birthday dinner at Dragonly was really great! We sat down to dinner around 7:45 and I, of course ordered a drink. I chose a Mango Madness Martini.

It tasted like the beach (spiked with mass amounts of alcohol). The only thing missing was the cabana boy…

I enjoyed it…

Although someone pointed out [...]

The Mini-Meal Experiment

April 14, 2009

Lunch came in two parts today. I am experimenting with eating smaller meals throughout the day rather than a bigger lunch and smaller snack.

Around 10:30 or so, after a gentle yoga session, I had one of my favorite snacks; Greek yogurt with a chopped apple and agave nectar. I added a little bit of [...]

Rain, Rain, Go Away

April 1, 2009

Well, the weather isn’t looking to promising folks. I ran a few errands this morning and I could see some really dark clouds out in the distance. I’m hoping they come and go by 9:00pm tonight so I can drive home! Is this what I get for saying  “I love rainy days” a couple days [...]

“The Grassroot Life”

March 20, 2009

Raleigh and I went for a nice long walk this morning, about 45 minutes or so. I love going for walks first thing in the day. Makes you feel like you got a lot done =)

Mid morning I munched on some yummy snacks:
Apple and cheese, one of my favorite combos.

Dr.Kracker.

Halfway through I decided it [...]
