Lessons Learned

August 9, 2009

These yoga teacher training weekends are always exhausting. Not only are they physically demanding (think 8 hour days of practicing and moving constantly, and sitting on the floor for chunks of time that feel like days), but they are mentally exhausting as well.
This one was especially exhausting for me. After moving into the sorority house [...]

Diagnosis: Food Rut.

Yesterday was my last time making a meal for S and K! Can you believe a whole Summer has gone by? Wow!

For my last meal, they requested the infamous Shaved Artichoke and Parmesan Salad I whipped one up gracefully this time, sans index finger, blood, and tears. Phew.

It’s a pretty [...]

Meet my personal assistant.

You’d think she could handle simple tasks, like making my bed and returning phone calls,

but she is slacking on the job today and only responds with a perplexed look when I ask her to do as I say.

You want me to do what?

Since my assistant is clearly not [...]

Play With Your Food

July 1, 2009

The sky is falling down on Tampa today…

I’m all for rainy days, but seriously weatherman, it’s getting old. Can we please have some sunshine? Ok, thanks!

My alarm went off bright and early this morning at 7:15. I, of course, heard it 30 minutes later, hopped out of bed and hurried to get ready before canoeing [...]

Culinary Creativity

June 22, 2009

The inspiration for S and K’s dinner tonight comes from day two of our NYC vacay. We literally wandered the streets of NY on our trip, not really knowing what we would find and without any real destination in mind.

Imagine our excitement when we stumbled upon the Union Square Farmers Market. Gorgeous produce, vibrant fresh [...]

Something New

June 8, 2009

So today I started a new “job”. With a new baby in the house, things are understandably a bit hectic for my friends Stephen and Kelly these days. And that’s where I come in… I’m going to be making dinner for them on weeknights! Pretty cool, huh?

Now that I’ve been hired as head chef [...]

Raw Pizza and OTM

June 5, 2009

My first attempt at raw pizza was pretty good. I started with the Easiest Crust recipe from Living on Live Food that I made yesterday,

then added some raw marinara sauce (sun-dried tomatoes, fresh tomatoes, garlic, olive oil, fresh basil and parsley),

and some yellow squash and portabella mushrooms.

I [...]

No Vegetable Is Safe

May 28, 2009

Remember the other day when I renounced my love for Green Smoothies? Well, I take it back.

I woke up craving one. This time though I added a scoop of vanilla whey protein to make sure the flavor was right on. And it was. Also in the mix: 1 frozen banana, 1/2 cup [...]

Uh-oh. I’m in trouble…

Hello Dr. Kracker! I won these in Erin’s giveaway and was so excited when they came in the mail today! Although I’m going to have to use maximum self-restraint to not tear into all of them right this second.

I also got this in the mail to try the other day…

Looks [...]

Raw Wednesday Challenge; Smoothie!

May 20, 2009

We have been on a raw food kick over here lately. My mom has jumped on board too and has been un-cooking everything! She made some cucumber-avocado soup yesterday and a raw walnut date torte the other day. It’s all quite delicious!

Here’s the torte…

It’s very sweet, actually sweeter than any dessert I [...]
